International stainless steel labeling method

The American Iron and Steel Institute uses three digits to mark various standard grades of malleable stainless steel. in:

①Austenitic stainless steel is marked with 200 and 300 series numbers, for example, some of the more common austenitic stainless steels are marked with 201, 304, 316 and 310.

②Ferritic and martensitic stainless steels are represented by numbers in the 400 series.

③Ferritic stainless steel is marked with 430 and 446, and martensitic stainless steel is marked with 410, 420 and 440C.

④ Duplex (austenite-ferrite), stainless steel, precipitation hardening stainless steel and high alloys with iron content less than 50% are usually named by patent names or trademarks.

4). Standard Classification and Grading

4-1 Grading classification:

① National standard GB ② Industry standard YB ③ Local standard ④ Enterprise standard Q/CB

4-2 Classification:

①Product Standard ②Packaging Standard ③Method Standard ④Basic Standard

4-3 standard level (divided into three levels):

Level Y: International Advanced Level I Level: General International Level H Level: Domestic Advanced Level

4-4 GB

GB1220-84 stainless steel bar (grade I) GB4241-84 stainless steel welding plate (grade H)

GB4356-84 stainless steel welded disc garden (level I) GB1270-80 stainless steel pipe (level I)

GB12771-91 stainless welded pipe (Y grade) GB3280-84 stainless cold plate (I grade)

GB4237-84 stainless hot plate (level I) GB4239-91 stainless cold strip (level I)

The corrosion resistance of stainless steel decreases with the increase of carbon content. Therefore, the carbon content of most stainless steels is low, the maximum does not exceed 1.2%, and the ωc (carbon content) of some steels is even lower than 0.03% (such as 00Cr12 ). The main alloying element in stainless steel is Cr (chromium). Only when the Cr content reaches a certain value, the steel has corrosion resistance. Therefore, stainless steel generally has a Cr (chromium) content of at least 10.5%. Stainless steel also contains Ni, Ti, Mn, N, Nb, Mo, Si, Cu and other elements.
Stainless steel is an alloy of iron that contains at least 10.5% chromium. It is known for its high strength, corrosion resistance, and durability. The following are the main structural components of stainless steel:
Iron: The primary component of stainless steel is iron. Iron gives stainless steel its strength and durability.
Chromium: Stainless steel contains at least 10.5% chromium, which gives it its resistance to corrosion. Chromium reacts with oxygen to form a thin, invisible layer of chromium oxide on the surface of the steel. This layer is self-healing and protects the steel from further corrosion.
Nickel: Nickel is often added to stainless steel to improve its corrosion resistance and enhance its strength. The addition of nickel also helps to make the steel more ductile, meaning it can be stretched and molded into different shapes.
Molybdenum: Molybdenum is added to some types of stainless steel to improve their resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in harsh environments, such as in marine and chemical processing applications.
Carbon: Carbon is added to some types of stainless steel to improve their strength and hardness. The amount of carbon in stainless steel is typically less than 0.08%.
Other elements: Other elements, such as copper, nitrogen, and sulfur, may also be added to stainless steel to enhance its properties for specific applications.
Overall, the combination of these components creates a material that is strong, durable, and resistant to corrosion, making it ideal for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications.
